If you have ever wanted to go into the medical field but can’t quite deal with all the blood and gore of surgery then attending chiropractic school and becoming a chiropractor might be the right path for you. Becoming a chiropractor requires quite a bit of school and education. First you must get a two year degree but these days it is recommended (and almost required if you want to be successful) that you get a four year degree. This degree should be in an area of science. It could be anything from biology to health sciences.

After you finish your degree, you must attend four more years of school to specialize and train in your field. There are around 20 colleges of chiropractic medicine that are accredited by the CCE or Council on Chiropractic Education. These schools are located across the country with multiple locations in states like California, New York, and Texas. There are also schools in Oregon like the Western States Chiropractic College and one in Iowa called the Palmer College of Chiropractic. The last year of your education at any of these colleges is spent in the field, working under close supervision by a chiropractor.

Once you have finished your training at any of the about 20 great colleges of chiropractics, you can begin practicing. Most chiropractors believe that by adjusting and improving the health of the spine, they can improve the health of the entire body. Through adjustment and massage techniques, chiropractors help improve the lives of thousands of patients.

Considering going into the field of chiropractics but not sure exactly how to do it or what school to attend?

The first step towards becoming a chiropractor is getting either a two year or four year degree (a four year degree is recommended if you wish to get a good education and a leg up in your career). This degree should be in a science related area like biology or physiology or health sciences.

After you have this degree, it is time to select a chiropractic college. There are 21 colleges of chiropractics that are recognized as being reliable by the CCE (the Council on Chiropractic Education). The colleges of chiropractic in California include Cleveland Chiropractic College (which also has a location in Kansas), Life Chiropractic College West, Los Angeles College of Chiropractic of the Southern California University of Health Sciences, and Palmer College of Chiropractic West (which also has a location in Iowa). The chiropractic colleges in Texas include Texas Chiropractic College and Parker College of Chiropractic.

There is also D’youville College of Chiropractic and New York Chiropractic College in New York. There is the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic in Connecticut and Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in South Carolina. Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minnesota and National University of Health Sciences in Illinois both have good chiropractic programs. There is also Logan College of Chiropractic is Missouri and Life University College of Chiropractic in Georgia.

Whichever one of these colleges you attend, becoming a chiropractor can be a great career decision.

Chiropractors are very important doctors for a lot of reasons. They help thousands of people every day feel better and healthier. Chiropractors and their patients believe that by having a healthy and strong spine you can have a healthy body. By adjusting the spine, they believe patients will experience whole body health and improvements in their body function.

Sounds like a great job right?

Becoming a chiropractor is not an easy task. To become a chiropractor first you must get a recommended four year degree in the field of science (a two year degree is required). Then you must attend four years of Chiropractic College. The last year of your training at chiropractic school is done in the field where you practice under the close supervision of a licensed chiropractor. Once you have completed these tasks you will be grated a D.C. or Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

That brings us to our next question. Where are there good Chiropractic Colleges? There are recognized Chiropractic Colleges all over the United States (and some in Canada and abroad). There are a number of these schools in California and Texas. There are also a few in New York. The others are scattered around the US and can be found in Iowa, Connecticut, Minnesota, South Carolina, and Illinois. All of these schools are accredited and an easy way to get a complete list is to go to the CCE or Council on Chiropractic Education website.

Whichever college you choose to attend, becoming a chiropractor will be a rewarding career for you and for your hundreds of patients.

Chiropractic Medicine can be a great career path for individuals who are interested in the medical field and want to help people feel better and be more comfortable. A chiropractor helps patients by adjusting their spine and creating better alignment of the neck, spine, and entire body. It is believed that having a healthy spine can lead to better overall health.

To become a chiropractor, you need to first get a four year college degree preferably with some kind of scientific emphasis. This could be a health science degree, a degree in biology, an anatomy or physiology degree. After you complete this degree, you will need four more years of specialty training at an approved chiropractic college. It is often true that a chiropractor’s education never stops because they usually have to attend classes and workshops annually.

There are 21 chiropractic colleges that are recognized by the Council on Chiropractic Education or CCE. These colleges are located all across the country. Some of these accredited colleges include Cleveland Chiropractic College which has locations in Kansas and Los Angeles, California, Los Angeles College of Chiropractic of the Southern California University of Health Sciences, New York Chiropractic College, Palmer College of Chiropractic (with locations in California and Iowa), Texas Chiropractic College, and Western States Chiropractic College in Oregon.

After Chiropractic College (the last year of which is served in the field) the student receives a Doctor of Chiropractic degree or D.C. and they are ready to go into practice and start helping patients.
